The company inaugurates a food warehouse at the Polo Oeste zone and announces further expansion to increase frozen food storage capacity.
Emergent Cold Latin America (Emergent Cold LatAm), the largest temperature-controlled food storage and logistics company in Latin America, inaugurates a new expansion of their warehouse in Montevideo, located at the Polo Oeste logistics park.
Increasing the existing warehouse by 13,000 pallets of frozen and chilled capacity, this brings the total capacity of their cold store to 48,000 pallet positions in a storage area of 267,000 cubic meters. This expansion reinforces the company’s commitment to modernizing the cold chain for food in Uruguay and providing integrated logistics solutions for the country’s producers and exporters.
This investment is part of Emergent Cold LatAm’s expansion strategy in Uruguay and more broadly, Latin America, strengthening its position as the largest temperature-controlled food logistics provider in the region, with a growing footprint of warehouses
“This facility expansion in Uruguay offers a modern and efficient infrastructure to support the temperature-controlled logistics for food to the domestic and export markets, allowing effective & sustainable food storage at various temperatures,” says Evandro Calanca, Managing Director for the South Cone region at Emergent Cold LatAm.
“With its strategic location and easy access to the port of Montevideo, we are well-positioned to meet the needs of the Uruguayan market, enhancing logistical efficiency and expanding our storage network in Latin America,” complemented the Managing Director.
Future Expansion
In parallel to opening this expansion, Emergent Cold LatAm is also announcing a second, immediate expansion, expected to be completed in the second half of 2025. This will add a further 4,000 pallet positions of capacity for frozen food storage, adding a 27,000 cubic meter area.
Emergent Cold LatAm began operations in Uruguay in May 2022 with the acquisition of Polo Logístico de Frío. In August 2023, it completed the acquisition of the Frigorífico Modelo (Frimosa) storage business.
Emergent Cold LatAm currently has 78 facilities in 11 countries across Latin America, positioning it as a leading logistics and storage solutions provider in the region.
