As part of its social responsibility actions, the company will offer space for the preservation of donated food.
Emergent Cold LatAm, the largest temperature-controlled food logistics company in Latin America, has signed a partnership with the Diakonia Food Bank, in Ecuador, a member of The Global FoodBanking Network. To formalize this partnership, the two organizations signed a Cooperation Agreement at the company’s premises in Durán.
Through this alliance, Emergent Cold LatAm has committed to collaborating with Diakonia by providing space in its facilities for the storage of frozen products. This cooperation will make it possible to optimize the preservation and progressive distribution of perishable food, directly benefiting thousands of Ecuadorians from vulnerable and priority sectors who depend on the operations of the Diakonia Food Bank.
Emergent Cold LatAm began operations in Ecuador in June 2023, with the construction of a modern frozen food warehouse located in Durán. As well as offering modern infrastructure and value-added services to Ecuadorian producers and exporters, the company is also committed to reducing food waste.
“Reducing food waste by transforming the cold chain in Latin America is the company’s purpose, so it makes a lot of sense and makes us proud to support the excellent work done by the Diakonia Food Bank,” commented Joaquín Del Campo, general manager for the Pacific region at Emergent Cold LatAm.
On the other hand, Federico Recalde, executive director of Diakonia, said, “The support of Emergent Cold LatAm allows us to reach new standards in the preservation of frozen products, which is fundamental to guaranteeing that food reaches those who need it most in the best condition. We are very grateful and committed to strengthening this collaboration to further our mission of supporting the community.”
Through this partnership, Diakonia Food Bank and Emergent Cold LatAm contribute to Sustainable Development Goal #2: Zero Hunger, which seeks to end hunger, achieve food security and improve nutrition; and #17: Partnerships for the Goals, which proposes the generation of alliances to achieve common goals that prioritize people and the planet.
Our experience in protecting your product throughout the cold chain for food makes us a standout choice in Latin America.
