This expansion increases the total capacity to 24,500 pallet positions.
Emergent Cold Latin America (Emergent Cold LatAm), the largest provider of temperature-controlled storage and logistics solutions for food in Latin America, has announced the start of the expansion of its facility located in Palín, Guatemala. This facility is strategically located between the capital city and the Quetzal port.
An additional 9,200 pallet positions will be added to the current capacity, bringing the total to 24,500 positions at the facility, primarily for storing meats, fruits, and vegetables. The construction is expected to be completed in 18 months.
Emergent Cold LatAm began operations in Guatemala in May 2022, with the acquisition of Bodegas Frías. In September of the same year, the first expansion of the Palín facility was completed, adding 5,000 positions.
Alain Eichmann, Managing Director of Emergent Cold LatAm for the Caribbean region, highlighted: “two expansions in just over a year underscore the relevance of Guatemala in the company’s strategies and our commitment to the economic development and logistics infrastructure of the country. We further reinforce our position as the largest temperature-controlled food storage company in Guatemala.”
David Palfenier, Co-Founder and President of Emergent Cold LatAm, remarked: “the trust placed in us by our clients and the positive performance of the company in Guatemala are key drivers of our growth. Additionally, we have the support of a significant local investor, LOSA Group, which is equally committed to the transformation we are fostering in the cold chain across the region.”
Felipe Bosch, Presidente of LOSA Group, an important local shareholder of the company, commented: “Emergent Cold LatAm is the embodiment of the strategy we seek to promote from Losa Group to empower transformative projects that generate an increasingly positive impact and long-term value in our region. We achieve this by partnering with outstanding operators like Emergent Cold, a company that’s revolutionizing the cold storage infrastructure across Latin America.”
