Emergent Cold Latin America (Emergent Cold LatAm), the fastest-growing temperature-controlled food storage and logistics provider in Latin America, has announced the expansion of its El Olivo facility, located in Maipú, in the metropolitan region of Santiago, Chile.

With this expansion, the facility’s capacity will be tripled, reaching 32,000 pallet positions using ASRS (automated storage retrieval system) technology. This automation enhances the efficiency, power utilization, and safety of handling food products, offering an innovative approach within the industry.

Joaquín Del Campo, Emergent Cold LatAm’s Managing Director for the Pacific Region, stated: “This expansion reinforces our commitment to developing logistics infrastructure in Chile and our dedication to providing innovative solutions for our clients. Implementing automation technologies in medium-sized warehouses allows us to increase operational efficiency and strengthens our position as the leading provider of temperature-controlled food logistics solutions, not just in the Chilean market but across the entire region.”

The expansion of the El Olivo facility is part of Emergent Cold LatAm’s strategic growth plan in Chile, a vital region for the company’s operations. The company is also expanding its recently opened warehouse in Talcahuano, the largest cold storage facility in the country. Currently, the capacity is 37,000 pallets, with 12,000 additional positions to be added.

Another significant achievement for the company’s operations in Chile is the EDGE Zero Carbon certification awarded to the San Pedro de La Paz warehouse, the world’s first temperature-controlled food storage facility to receive this recognition for sustainable operations.
